My name is Ian Watson. I am the music director/teacher for Rye High School and Craver Middle School. I am in my 4th year of teaching and 2nd year at Rye High School and Craver Middle School. I have been working for Pueblo County School District 70 for 4 years. I am a native to Colorado Springs, Colorado. I live in Pueblo with my wife Brynne and duaghter Katerina, with a baby boy on the way.

I began my music journey in the 6th grade learning how to play the tuba. I first began marching band in the 7th Grade as a sousaphone player with the Panorama Middle School Cougar 7th and 8th grade combined marching band. I gained my first year of competitive marching band with Sierra High School Stallion Marching Band and then the Sand Creek High School Marching Band. At Sand Creek I learned how to play the Trombone in Jazz Band, the Euphonium and continued to play tuba and sousaphone. Performed with Jazz II, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Solo and Ensemble and Marching Band and graduating in 2009.

In 2009, I became a member of the Blue Knights Drum and Bugle Corps based in Denver, Colorado. Going on tour with them for the 2009 season performing in the show "Shiver, a winter in Colorado." on the Contra Bass Bugle (Marching Tuba.)

I briefly attended Colorado State University-Pueblo as a Music Education Major before transfering to Brigham Young University-Idaho. I gained more performance and education experience in Symphony Orchestra (BYUI), Jazz Band (CSU-P), Marching Band (CSU-P), Chamber Brass (BYUI), Wind Ensemble (CSU-P), University Band (BYU-I), Symphony Band (BYU-I), Opera Scenes (BYU-I), Men's Choir (BYU-I) and University Choir (BYU-I). I performed on Tuba, Trombone, Euphonium, Percussion, Bassoon and singing Baritone/Bass. I also gain valuable experince in Ballroom Dancing, Clogging, World Dance and Modern/Contemporrary Dance.

Studied BBb tuba, CC Tuba, F Tuba and Euphonium under Dr. Matt Moore and gained valuable insight into the music methods of David Fetterly and Arnold Jacobs.

I completed student teaching in Chandler, Arizona under the mentorship of Brian Wilson. After student teaching I worked as a music substitute for Falcon School District 49 in Colorado Springs as a brass/visual tech for various marching bands.

I love my wife and our family. I have interests in Military Aviation History and General Military HIstory. I volunteer with my wife at the National Air Museum of World War II Aviation in Colorado Springs. I enjoy cooking, camping, hunting, music and spending time with family on vacations.
