To provide a dynamic learning environment that stimulates the highest standards of research, innovation, and leadership in music composition, performance, technology, education, and advocacy.

Whats Included?

RESOURCES

July-October,  Thunderbolt Marching Band

We are working to develop and reincorporate the Rye High School Thunderbolt Marching Band that has been absent from the school and community for more that 15 years. This year we are focusing on the fundamentals of marching band. The goal is to have the return of the competitive Marching Band next year. This portion includes the following:

-Fundamental Marching Techniques

-Performing at all Home Football Games

-Going to Marching Band Festivals to observe and to learn.

-Playing a field show known as a Park and Bark at the last Home Football Game.

-Marching in the Homecoming Parade.

-Physical Fitness!

October-May, Concert Band

After the Marching Band Season, the band will convert over to concert band. The concert band focuses on the playing fundamentals and performing at concert band festivals and competitions. This includes the Art Show, Canon City Blossom Festival, Small School Festival at Fountain Fort Carson High School and Music and the Parks in Denver.

Music is selected from fun and engaging music to music that will challenge the abilities of the students and help the students develop their musical abilities even more. This portion includes the following:

-Performing at festivals.

-Performing opportunity for individual students interested in State Honore Band.

-Music playing fundementals.

-Time Management.

-Performing a fun themed concert as well as a traditional concert.

This is the visual element to the Marching Band. We will be holding this all year during homeroom for the time being meeting on Wednesdays.  The Colorguard is apart of the band and will travel with the band to festivals and home football games. It includes the following.

-Flag Technique

-Rifle Technique

-Dance Technique

-Basic Choreography

Spring Semester, Rock-Band, Unofficial Class

An ensemble that focuses on playing rock music and will be featured at different events and festivities. More information to come. This is held after-school.
